Mangaluru: Ratnavarma Heggade Awards for Unpublished Tulu Plays Announced

Mangaluru: The 2014 winners of the annual Ratnavarma Heggade awards, instituted by Dharmadhikari Dr Veerendra Heggade of Dharmasthala and given to unpublished Tulu plays, have been announced.

'Marl kaTTayi paTTo' by Ravikumar Kadekar has won the first place, 'TuLuvappe magal tuLasi' the second and 'Satyada kamberlu' by Naveen Suvarna Padre the third place.

The awards are being given every year since 1976. The awards carry cash amounts of Rs 7,000, Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,000 respectively.

The winners were selected by a panel of jury consisting of journalist Manohar Prasad, Tulu author Sanjeeva Adyar and lecturer Bhaskar Rai Kukkuvalli. The awards will be presented on the occasion of 'Bisu Parba' to be organized by Tulu Koota Kudla on April 14, according to Koota president B Damodar Nisarga.
