Mangaluru: Rajesh Gowda (27), from Kadaba Puttur, has been stranded in Yemen. Speaking to mangalorean.com, Rajesh's brother-in-law Radhakrishna Nandila said, "Rajesh is a GCC HVAC Engineer. Three years ago, Rajesh joined MAM International Corporation at Sana's Trade Center in the Republic of Yemen. Every year in February, he comes to his home town Puttur on vacation. This year in February, he had come on vacation for a month and was his third vacation after going to Yemen. On March 19, he left to Yemen."

He further said that on March 29, the family spoke to Rajesh and during the conversation, he said that the situation is very scary since every now and then the sound of exploding bombs can be heard. "They even have instructions to switch off the lights during the night. On March 30, we received a call from Rajesh. He said that the runway was also bombed on March 29 and he had been in touch with the Indian Embassy. The embassy officials have asked him to get ready. Until March 29, it was not confirmed whether they would be sent by air or by sea. Now, Rajesh is in fear and worried since every now and then they hear the sound of bomb blasts."

Radhakrishna also said that he spoke to D V Sadananda Gowda about Rajesh. "DVS assured to make all the arrangements to bring all the Indians back from Yemen. On March 30, DVS called me, and said, "I have spoken to Sushma Swaraj, Minister of External Affairs, on phone. I could not meet her personally as I am in Bengaluru. We have made all the arrangements to bring them back". We are in constant touch with DVS, giving him updates about the situation."

He urged the concerned authorities to take immediate action to bring back all stranded Indians from Yemen.
